Lopsided wins for Blue Haus, Armatech
Blue Haus and Armatech bagged easy wins in the masters division of the 2015 San Antonio Community Action Network Basketball League last Monday night at the San Antonio court.
Armatech’s Bruce Berline, center, loses his balance after being fouled by VM Production’s Nilo Buhay, right, while Cesar Barroza tries to provide help defense during the third quarter of their masters division game in the San Antonio caging last Monday night at the San Antonio court. Blue Haus crushed KB Market in the first game, 92-67, while Armatech trounced VM Production in the nightcap, 90-53.
The victory gave Armatech a 4-2 record and second place in the team standings behind unbeaten GMJ/IKKI (4-0) and MJD/GPPCA (4-0), while Blue Haus is at close third with its 3-1 mark. VM Production and KB Market dropped to 2-3 and 2-4 slates, respectively, while CES Electronics (1-6) and Maplas (0-5) complete the field.
Armatech held VM Production to 8 points in the first quarter to dictate the tempo of the game and the former made it a double-digit lead at halftime, 37-17, en route to the 37-point winning margin. Armatech drew points from every player it fielded in the game to establish a big lead early, while VM Production was limited to four field goals apiece in the first two periods.
Despite its 20-point halftime edge, Armatech played no let up both on offense and defense in the third period, which ended with the winning team way ahead, 64-29. Bruce Berline showed no mercy against the much smaller VM Production frontliners, as he asserted his might in the paint and dropped 10 of his total points in the third canto.
With the game in the bag, Armatech finally let its guard down in the fourth, allowing VM Production to pick up garbage points.
In the first game, Blue Haus went to business in the final half to cruise past KB Market.
Ahead by only 7 at the break, 34-27, Edsel Mendoza nailed 7 of his 13 markers in the third period and drew a lot of help from his teammates to lift Blue Haus to a double-digit spread, 60-48.
Blue Haus went on to pad its lead in the fourth canto, as it continued to spread the wealth in the final frame. Blue Haus finished off KB Market in style, drilling four straight triples, two came from Tony Diaz, who was one of the five players on the team to score in twin digits. Diaz had 15 points, just 2 less than Steve Rasa’s output, while Junar Guiab and Felix Palacios contributed 12 and 10, respectively.
Edgar Pangelinan paced KB Market with his 26 markers.
