The Philippine Consulate General on Saipan will be closed today and tomorrow in observance of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, both of which are recognized Philippine holidays.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino III’s declaration of April 21 to 22 as non-working holidays resulted in the long weekend.

Consul General Medardo Macaraig, however, noted that the Consulate will be open to the public on Monday, April 9, from 9am to 4pm despite another national holiday.

April 9 is Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor, which marks the fall of Bataan during World War II.

“Although Monday is a holiday, we will strive to open our office since we will be closed for two days this week and we no longer provide consular services on weekends,” Macaraig told Saipan Tribune.

The Consulate will resume its regular working schedule of 8am to 6pm on Tuesday, April 10.
