Long, Rodriguez top Tinian graduates

The Top 10 of Tinian High School’s Class of 2021. (PSS)
TINIAN—Residents here were joined by Commonwealth leaders as they all gathered in the afternoon of May 25 to honor and celebrate the success of 34 high school seniors who all graduated from the only public high school on this island municipality.
Tinian High School’s Class of 2021 held a face-to-face graduation, instituting all COVID-19 safety precautions and protocols. It was a socially-distanced graduation. Tinian High School was the only public school in the CNMI to hold such in-person commencement exercise.
Tinian High School was also the first to hold a high school graduation among the six public high schools on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Class of 2021 valedictorian is Tasi Thomas Gutierrez Long. He is a recipient of the Board of Education Award. He is going to attend Stanford University. BOE chair Andrew L. Orsini and Tinian board member Antonio Borja presented the award.
Class of 2021 salutatorian is Clarence Paraiso Rodriguez. He this year’s recipient of the Commissioner of Education Award, which was presented by Dr. Alfred B. Ada and was joined by Special Education director Donna Flores.
Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) attended the ceremony and were joined by municipal officials led by Tinian and Aguiguan Mayor Edwin P. Aldan and Senate President Jude Hofshchneider, among others.
Others in the Top 10 are: (3) Anisha Juana Cabrera Viches; (4) Elvie Marie Acido Dominguiano; (5) Kiran Arthur Malicdem Shrestha; (6) Yesha Joy Sosa Reyes; (7) Axl Matias Ong; (8) David Robert Reyes Mendiola; (9) Suhyeon Yoon, and (10) Ramier Gamban Balagtas.
Keynote speaker was Tinian High School’s vice principal Nikita Mendiola, who graduated from the same school 14 years ago.
The recipient of the Governor’s Award was Suhyeon Yoon. Elvie Marie Dominguiano is the recipient of the Lt. Governor’s Award. School Leadership Award was presented to Yna Marie Agbayani. (PSS)
