Local law appropriates $160,000 to Tinian

Tinian will be receiving $160,000 in appropriations from local license fees collected from pachinko slot and poker machines in the Second Senatorial District. Lt. Gov. Victor B. Hocog signed in acting capacity House Local Bill 20-9, D1 on Friday.
The Tinian and Aguiguan Legislative Delegation passed HLB 20-9 or Tinian Local Law 20-2 during their first regular session on March 31. The funds appropriated are without fiscal year limitations.
The money appropriated, which was collected in accordance with TLL 14-2, would be used for various programs for the people of Tinian. The Office of the Mayor of Tinian and Aguiguan is among five entities that are the recipients of the funds.
The Tinian Mayor’s Office will be getting the bulk of the appropriation with $81,000 with the money to be used to pay for personnel, for their daily operations and public programs, and contingency measures.
The Inter-island Medical Referral program is allotted $35,000, while the Tinian Guest House would get $18,000 for its vehicle lease, and fuel and lube, while $16,000 is for professional services, and $10,000 for the Tinian Municipal Scholarship
Tinian Mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas is the one authorized to release and distribute the funds appropriated under Section 2 (a), (c), (d), and (e) while the Tinian Municipal Scholarship chair for Section 2 (b).
The $160,000 will be transferred to an account set up by the Tinian Municipal Treasurer, who would then regulate and control the release of funds in accordance of fiscal management policies of the Municipality of Tinian.
