The Democratic Party of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands yesterday announced that the Delegate Selection Plan for the Democratic Party Caucus will be held on March 12.

“We are excited for the opportunity to send delegates from the CNMI to the Democratic National Convention this summer,” said CNMI Democratic Party chair Rosiky Camacho. “As part of that process, we want to put forward these rules to the public and to the campaigns for President that may be organizing in the CNMI to allow for participation in the process.”

The CNMI has been allocated six at-large delegates to the Democratic National Convention to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 25-28. At this convention the Democratic Party will formally select its nominee for President of the United States.

The March 12 caucus will be the first step in the CNMI’s participation in this process. At the caucus, Democrats will elect delegates to attend the National Convention according to Presidential preference group. Nomination forms for delegates, and the rules for the caucuses contained in the party’s Delegate Selection Plan, are available online at https://sites.google.com/site/cnmidemscaucus/.

“We hope that people will come out and participate on the 12th,” Camacho said. The caucuses will be held at 6pm at the following locations:
