Listen to John S. DelRosario
What Mr. Del Rosario has to say needs to be understood by every adult in the CNMI. I will debate his opinion on Obamacare and the insurance companies but agree 100 percent with his assessment that all of our politicians put together don’t know enough about politics to fill a thimble. Ask your grandma what a thimble is, she knows. None can read, comprehend, or do simple math, unless something is wrong with their paycheck of course. I’m sure most are PSS graduates. This is election time. Anyone that straight votes a relative, a party, or anyone that can’t give them a concrete, well thought out plan of action with real, achievable solutions to our problems does not deserve your vote. Period.
In the last gubernatorial election there were roughly 13,000 votes cast for governor. About 1,800 were absentee votes so 11,200 were cast within the CNMI. Since there are a little over 16,000 registered voters, that means that about 3,000 voters didn’t cast a vote for anyone and since every candidate seems to be an NMD and are only interested in NMD votes, I think that 2014 just might be the year that the candidate with the most social media footprint, with the most modern and up-to-date Web page, and the candidate with the most realistic and honest platform that spells out in detail how to tackle a problem, just might get some of these 3,000 votes. Candidates will have to reach out to these almost “foreign” people, these half-Chamorro, half-Palauan, Pohnpean, haole, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and other voters. Holy cow, where the dickens did all these people come from? Well, you guys, and we know women have few real rights in the CNMI, so guys, these 3,000 to 4,000 potential voters, who you have never reached out to, didn’t know existed, never gave a thought to or the time of day to in the last 36 years, could spell victory, or defeat for you in 2014.
The only candidate that has any footprint on the Internet at all is Babauta. Even his running mate doesn’t have one. I suggest you get busy and get with the program. For all you technologically challenged candidates, just go to www.tinasablan.com for a sample webpage you should emulate, copy. It is 5 years old but it is really a well thought out site. The days of “please vote for me” might just be over and you might just have to have real plan this year. We, and there are about 4,000 of us, want to know your views on the issues, not your views on do you serve chicken or beef at your barbecues.
