Local Lions Clubs mourns passing of membership chair
Nenita V. Marquez, one of the Lions Clubs International, District 204 Region 2 officers, passed away last Oct. 11 at the age of 77.
Marquez was an active member of the Lions Clubs for six years and served as the membership chair of the Saipan Centennial Lions Club. She also was a Melvin Jones Fellow recipient.
“We call her our Lion Mother since she was, indeed, a mother to most of us, not just in Lions Clubs but even in the community,” said Region 2 chair Annamae Adaza. “She was also one of the volunteers of the mobile consular [outreach] of the Philippine Consulate General in Guam.”
A 6pm nightly rosary, headed by the Sto. Nino Group, is being held by Marquez’s family, relatives, and friends at the Kristo Rai Church in Garapan.
“No words can adequately express our sadness for her death and we thank the family, relatives, friends, Legion of Mary group, Zion Choir, [United Filipino Organization], and Lions Clubs International District 204 for the great support and assistance,” said Saipan Centennial Lions Club president Arceli Lizama.
The family will be repatriating Marquez’s remains to the Philippines and will advise the public of the viewing once the flight is confirmed.
