Koblerville Elementary School students started classes yesterday with a campus that had just been beautified by the Saipan Lions Club.

The Lions painted the school last Aug. 24-25. The group had 49 volunteers on Saturday and 61 on Sunday.

“Some schools are still in a dire situation [and] needing any assistance they can get from the community,” said Lions Club region assistant secretary Bhiya Canadalla. “‘We Serve’ is the Lions Club’s motto and this is what we are doing. When there’s a need, there’s a Lion.”

School principal Naomi Nishimura reached out to the Lions Clubs International, Region 2 District 204 to ask for help in painting the walls, repairing the tin roofs, and in removing the roof in front of the stage.

Marketing Communication chair Mario Mayuga said the Lions are helping the community, while also being visible to entice others to do the same.
