Region 2 zone chair Ladyvir Canape said that officers and members of the Saipan Unity Lions Club, Saipan Marianas Lions Club, and Saipan Fil-Am Lions Club presented some 60 toys to the CDAC staff.

Canape said Thursday’s donation was Region 2’s efforts to revive a Christmas project of Saipan Fil-Am Lions Club that was halted for about three years due to membership and budget woes.

“We decided that for this year, we would engage the other Lions Clubs so we can bring back this worthwhile project,” she told Saipan Tribune.

Canape described the experience as rewarding. “To be given the opportunity to share our blessings with children with disabilities, it’s a very different feeling.”

While the presentation of toys did not involve the children at CDAC for their own protection, Canape received assurance that the center will do its best to hold a Christmas party for the children in next year’s donation.

“My wish for these kids is for them to have good health and to continue giving joy to their own families. Let us be thankful that we are still fortunate not to go through the same hardships like the victims of natural disasters and wars. I wish the children and their families a joyous and safe Christmas,” said Canape.
