One of several local Lion’s Club International organizations cleaned up the Ladder Beach last Sunday morning.

Nineteen members of the Saipan Alliance Lion’s Cub cleaned up Ladder Beach in Obyan of trash such as plastic bottles, bags, cans, diapers, paper, and other garbage.

Club vice president Bhiya Canadalla noted that the 19 members did the cleanup work from 7am to 11am. “We do this every year. This is our third year picking up trash in this area,” she said.

She did not confirm how many pounds of trash were collected.

Club president Danny Robles noted that the activity is part of the organization’s mission to spread environmental awareness.

“We do this community project twice a year,” he told Saipan Tribune. “Our next cleanup this year might be this August or October.”

This coming Sunday, the club would be working on a bus shelter they’ve adopted in Koblerville.

For those interested in joining the cleanup, contact Canadalla at 285-6899 or the club secretary at 788-4108.
