Lion’s Club caging unfurls tomorrow

A total of 18 teams—12 teams in the open division and six in the masters division—will take part in the SCLC Basketball League set to start its inaugural season tomorrow at the Gillette Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Gualo Rai.
Co-coordinator Boy Garcia said the 12 teams entered in the open division are Alii Blue Haus, Marianas Warriors, The Game, IT&E, HBR Construction, Vizion Insurance, 670 Gravity, JTM, Marianas Dental, Supertech UFO, Lakay Islander, and Pacific Express.
The six teams that will duke it out in the 45-and-over masters division are Blu Haus, DECM, Napa Auto, Marianas Dental, Eagle Construction, and Saipan Magalahi Eagles.
Garcia said all 18 teams will take part in an opening parade where a best muse and best uniform competition will take place. Winners of each category get to take home $100 in cash.
Organized by the Saipan Centennial Lions Club, in cooperation with the Tan Sui Lin Foundation, the SCLC Basketball League is also made possible with help from PC Bargain, Daniel’s, BES House of Chicken, Puerto Rico Bento, SM, Smad’s, Saipan Ice and Water Co., Villa Luna, Eagle Construction, and RHF Marketing Services.
Earlier, co-coordinator Mikee Guirey said proceeds from the fundraising event will be used for the Lions Club’s global causes that include helping curb the prevalence of diabetes and improving the quality of life of those diagnosed with the lifestyle disease.
He also said funds raised will also go to Lion Club’s campaign to prevent blindness and improve the quality of life of people who are blind and visually impaired.
SCLC is part of Lions Club International and a chartered club since June 20, 2018 under District 204 Region 2.
