The Saipan Mayor’s Office has started preparation for the upcoming 2017 Liberation Day festivities.

Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang said his office as already putting up tents at the Garapan Fishing Base that will be used for the upcoming festival.

Apatang’s crew began their preparations last Friday, June 9. He said they will be setting up over 30 booths and tents for the festival.

The setup of the festival will replicate the previous setup of the event that was designed by Skywalker Communications Group.

Although Skywalker Communications is no longer hosting the Liberation Day Festival, Apatang said the company’s staff that are still on the island are more than willing to help with the preparation by offering the resources they have like their tents.

The office has not encountered any setbacks so far in the setup of the festival.

The Liberation Day Festival will commence on June 24. It will be held at the Garapan Fishing Base and will start at 6pm.

Float applications are still being accepted by the Saipan Mayor’s Office throughout the week. The deadline for the submission of the Liberation parade float applications will be June 19. For those interested in signing up for the parade float competition, an entry fee of $100 will be required. Non-competitive floats don’t require an entry fee.

Vendor application submissions are no longer being accepted.
