LibDay Committee looking for more volunteers
The 2015 Liberation Day Committee is seeking more volunteers for Liberation Day preparation and celebration this week, which includes the festivities that will kick off this Saturday.
Skywalker Communications Group public relations manager Kiki Chen said that there are seven categories that interested applicants can look at for volunteering. After their volunteer time, recognition including a certificate indicating their volunteer hours will be presented to them.

The seven categories for volunteers include booth, carnivals, promotions, parade, grand opening, sponsors, and entertainment.
“This can help those students at Northern Marianas College seeking to put in their volunteer hours for their community service or those students who will be attending school year for this year include it into their community service credits,” Chen said.
However, there won’t be any cash initiatives at this time, but discussions are still ongoing whether payment will be provided.
“They can just pick up the application they want and chose from the different categories that they would like to volunteer in,” Chen said.
Chen said that it is an opportunity for them to walk away at the end of the festivities with a certification and hands-on experience.
Alice Igitol, Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council vice chair and director for the volunteers for 2015 Liberation Day Committee, said that food and drinks will be available to the volunteers such as lunch and dinner during their volunteer hours.
In related news, the Liberation Day committee will be holding a meeting for vendors at 6pm today at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. The meeting is open for both applicants and interested applicants.
June 25 is the last day to turn in applications for concession booths.
There will also be a separate meeting at the Marianas Business Plaza at the Skywalkers office at 6pm for the volunteers, both applicants and interested applicants.
The 2015 Liberation Day Carnival grounds will open on June 27 and will run 6pm-10pm Mondays to Thursdays, 6pm-11pm on Fridays, 10am to 11pm on Saturdays and 10am to 10pm on Sundays.
The parade is set for July 4 with participants expected to be on site by 7am, while the parade kicks off at Quartermaster Road around 9am. It will go toward the carnival grounds at the Garapan Fishing Base.
