Missing Saipan Fresh Market owner Zhi Yuan Li was last seen visiting an “accounting office” in Puerto Rico, Saipan Tribune learned yesterday.

A Chinese employee of a tire shop in Puerto Rico disclosed that Li did not visit their shop but the office next to their shop last Jan. 17 at about 11am.

Police earlier said the storeowner was last seen on Jan. 17 at 11am, seeing a person at a tire shop in Puerto Rico.

The employee, who refused to be named, said Li was in the office possibly for “some documents.” He did not elaborate.

Saipan Tribune checked the office yesterday afternoon but no one was there.

Li’s family member disclosed yesterday that the office in Puerto Rico does the accounting work for Li’s business.

As for Li’s white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, the family member said the police have yet to return the vehicle to them. The family member said police may give back the truck on Friday.

A police officer doing patrol found Li’s truck abandoned on a dirt road between Ladder Beach and Obyan Beach last Jan. 18 at 8am. Police towed the vehicle and processed it. The truck reportedly had no damage when it was recovered.

A family member yesterday clarified that the $50,000 cash reward will be given to anyone who can find or pinpoint the whereabouts of Li.

Li’s family reported his disappearance to police last Jan. 17 at 7:56pm.
