Level of offensive odor at wastewater plant to go up

Share

There will be a slight to moderate increase in the level of offensive odor at the Sadog Tasi wastewater treatment facility.

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. is hauling processed sludge from the facility to the landfill and the odor is the result of disturbing the dried solids that have accumulated on site. CUC started the process last Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017.

Also, CUC will be making additional process control changes that will advance sewage treatment efforts. These adjustments will also add to the increase in offensive odor levels.

The odors may continue through Oct. 20, 2017.

Every effort will be made to keep the odors at a minimal level as much as possible. Since individuals have different heightened levels of smell, some individuals may find the odors more offensive than others. These odors should only be noticeable around the Puerto Rico/Sadog Tasi area.
