Leina ends up second in Wichita
Leina Kim failed to sustain her fine form and settled for a runner-up finish in the Midwestern State Invitation on Tuesday at the Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The Colorado State University-Pueblo junior, according to the CSU-Pueblo Lady ThunderWolves website, limped with a 9-over 81 against the par-72, 5,843-yard layout. She and West Texas A&M University’s Whitlee Woods were on top of the leaderboard after round one.
Kim, who earned her sixth Top 3 finish in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference season, and Woods shot a 1-under 71 to share first place after the opening round. She tallied 152 to lose the individual title by a stroke to West Texas’ Glory Jangthongsiri.
Jangthongsiri, who was tied for 23rd on Monday with a 7-over 79, fired an even-par final round giving her a 7-over 151 total to earn her second title this season after winning the St. Mary’s Rattler Invitational. It was also her fifth overall title.
Midwestern bets Sierra Campbell and Sarah Moore, and opening round co-leader Woods tallied 9-over 153s to end up tied for third to fifth spots.
Kim, despite losing the crown, recorded the tournament’s best scoring average on par-four holes with 4.10 while posting the second-most birdies with seven. She had six birdies in the first round and went 3-under on par-4 holes.
Two weeks ago, Kim fired a two-day tally of 13-over 157 to finish tied for 10th place together with University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons’ Joana Yanez in the Las Vegas Desert Classic.
The rest of the Wolf Pack: Julie Sanchez dropped to a tie for 41st with a 168, Megan McCutcheon came in 77th with a 196 followed by the 199 of Natasha Navarro at 78th place. Danielle DuPont landed at 81st with a 208.
The ThunderWolves finished the two-day tournament at 13th with a total score of 708. Host Midwestern Mustangs topped the event with a 617 followed by West Texas (624), Academy of Art University (626), Tarleton State (630), and Rogers State (640).
The CSU-Pueblo bets return to Colorado Springs on March 28 and 29 for the Mountain Lion Invitational.
