The Bank of Guam has joined the growing list of sponsors for the 1st Annual Governor’s Tourism Cup Golf Tournament after donating $3,000 last week

Proceeds of the tournament set for May 14 will go to the Marianas Tourism Education Council (MTEC), which was created by the Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) in 2002. The tournament is hosted by the Office of the Governor and the MVA and will be held on the east course of Laolao Bay Golf & Resort with a shotgun start at 7:30am.

“The Bank of Guam has always been and continues to be a stalwart corporate citizen, most especially where the development of our children are concerned,” said tournament director James Nelson. “We’re extremely delighted and grateful to have the Bank of Guam as major sponsor for this inaugural golf tournament.”

The tournament committee has also received several prize commitments from companies such as Pacifica Insurance, which is donating a $5,000.00 hole-in-one prize. Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Islands Club Saipan, and the Kanoa Resort have donated several hotel night stays and meals, while Delta Air Lines has donated a roundtrip ticket to Japan. More prizes are expected as the tournament nears.

Food and beverage sponsors include the Pacific Trading Co., Herman’s Modern Bakery and MARPAC. The tournament will feature a morning snack, BBQ hotdog stands on the course, and free-flowing beverages throughout the event.

The tournament entry fee is $100 and includes cart and green fees, morning snacks, on-course refreshments and awards banquet. Entry forms are available under the MVA Events Calendar at www.mymarianas.com or at the MVA office on Beach Rd. in San Jose, where forms may be submitted and payments may be made. Checks should be made payable to “Marianas Tourism Education Council or MTEC.” Credit card payments will not be accepted. Deadline for entries is 5pm on May 11.
