The NMI Judiciary will once again host the three branches of government at its annual Law Day proclamation signing ceremony on April 20, 2022. The Judiciary, along with the Office of the Governor, the Senate, the House of Representatives, the U.S. District Court, and the CNMI Bar Association will come together to sign a proclamation centering on this year’s theme: “Toward a More Perfect Union: The Constitution in Times of Change.”

Law Day is commemorated annually throughout the United States on May 1, and it provides people around the nation the opportunity to celebrate the advantages of having a nation of laws. The American Bar Association selected this year’s theme to acknowledge every person’s individual contribution to the legal system and to highlight “how each of us works—together—toward a more perfect Union.”

In the CNMI, the celebration of this theme will span a month, from April 20 to May 20, 2022. A poster contest for elementary students and an essay contest for middle school students were held. The winners will be announced during the ceremony and the CNMI Youth Congress will participate by reading this year’s proclamation. The NMI Judiciary hopes that Law Day will continue to inspire active, open, and peaceful discussion throughout our island communities. (PR)
