Lauron takes MVP honors in JP World caging

Joeten 1’s Alex Lauron won a handful of awards in the 2018 JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation Basketball League last Sunday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium, including the coveted most valuable player trophy.
The Joeten 1 forward was named the league MVP for steering his team to first place in Pool A in the regular season and leading the group’s title sweep against Top Development, Inc.
In Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-three finals, Lauron emerged as the top scorer for Joeten 1. He made 12 markers in their 85-66 victory in the opener and played better in the title-clinching Game 2 after firing 17 points, 12 of them came in the second half to power Joeten 1 to a 75-66 triumph.
Besides the MVP trophy, Lauron was handed two more awards, as he led the league in rebounds and was named to the Mythical Five selection.
Joining Lauron on the elite group are his teammates Chris Lilles and Sydney Quan and TDI’s Darwin Barbo and Sean Rabasto.
Joeten 1 and TDI reached the finals after sweeping Triple J Motors and RNV Best Deal, respectively, in their best-of-three semis series.
