Last two slots left for MGA Ace

Only the November and December Ace of the Month slots are left before the Marianas Golf Association hold its yearend tournament.

The November Ace will be held tomorrow at the Marianas Country Club with a 9am showtime while tee off is one hour later. The December Ace is tentatively set in the first Saturday or Sunday of January 2018.

The November and December monthly aces were a bit delayed due to a number of tournaments—including the inaugural Marianas International Cup and the Club Lao Championship—held from October to November

James Benavente earned a spot to the year-ending MGA tournament after winning the October Ace held last Oct. 7 at the challenging east course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort. He was also the closest to the pin winner at No. 6, while Ned Norita duplicated the feat at Nos. 4 and 15, and Shine Tenorio clinched the award at No. 11.

Benavente earned the October Ace since Gerald Guerrero had already qualified after winning the May Ace. Benavente and Guerrero will join Dung Tenorio (January), Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho (February), Jessica Sonoda (March), J.J. Atalig (April), Calvin Yamagishi (June), Jason Sablan (July), Norita (August), and Rob Davis (September) in the club championship.

Yamagishi placed second to Guerrero in the double Ace (May and June) to earn a spot in MGA’s season-ending tournament, while Norita got the August Ace after finishing runner-up to Sablan (July) in another two-in-one tournament for July and August.

Meanwhile, MGA is still accepting members who love and have a passion for playing golf regularly aside from making new friends. MGA was founded in 2013 and is open to anyone regardless of golf skill level. Handicaps are used in each monthly tournament for fairness and equality among the members.

For more information on how to become an MGA member, visit the MGA Facebook page or get in touch with tournament director Yamagishi at 287-8894.
