Finance Secretary Larrisa Larson has confirmed that she will continue to be at the helm of the department.

Larson said she is grateful and looks forward to another four years working at Finance.

Gov. Eloy S. Inos, meanwhile, will decide on who will head the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Public Lands “soon.”

Lt. Gov. Ralph DLG. Torres told reporters that Inos will soon decide on the leadership of both agencies, which are some of the “few departments still without their respective heads.”

Torres, however, did not give a schedule on the impending announcements.

Former Corrections Commissioner Ramon C. Mafnas will be assigned to a new post, according to Torres.

“Mafnas is moving to a different position,” Torres said, although he did not specify if Mafnas’ new post will be a department-level position.

Torres also confirmed that Inos has checked out of the hospital and might be going back to his office at Capital Hill soon where he is expected to announce a decision on the DCCA and DPL posts.

The administration earlier appointed Mark Rabauliman to head the Department of Commerce, Richard Seman for the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and James Ada for the Department of Public Works.

Rabauliman have been serving as acting secretary after erstwhile Commerce secretary and now Sen. Sixto Igisomar ran and won a Senate seat, while Seman lost his seat in the House of Representatives in last year’s general elections. Ada is the president of the CNMI Republican Party.

Also appointed was Ivan Blanco as public information officer. He has been serving in an acting capacity since former press secretary Angel Demapan ran and won a House seat in Precinct 1.

The appointments will be subject to Senate confirmation, except for the PIO post. More appointments are expected to be made in the coming days. (Joel D. Pinaroc)
