“We’re extremely pleased to be providing reduced prices for the participants of the Tournament of Champions,” said LaoLao Bay Golf Resort senior vice president/general manager Tetsuya Matsunaga. “The event plays an important role in raising funds for critical community projects, and we are glad to contribute in any way we can to this worthy cause.”

The Laolao Bay Golf Resort is offering a discounted rate of $100 (plus 10 percent) per night or $240 (plus 10 percent) for three nights in its “Ocean Bay” room. The two-bedroom suite, which is more than twice as large, has been discounted to $200 (plus 10 percent) per night or $480 (plus 10 percent) for three nights. The prices include Continental breakfast.

Additionally, the Laolao Bay Golf Resort will be offering discounted green fees for Guam residents from July 29, 2012, to Aug. 6, 2012. The fees have been lowered to match fees paid by CNMI residents.

The 17th Annual Tournament of Champions will be played at LaoLao Bay Golf Resort’s east and west courses. The two-day event is bigger and better than ever with exciting hole in one prizes, and the chance to walk off with thousands of dollars in prizes. The TOC tournament fee is $175.

“We want our regular players to know we appreciate their support for TOC, and hope that new players will be encouraged to join,” said tournament director Ben Babauta. “The fee includes two days of golf and the awards banquet, which will be held on Sunday at LaoLao Bay’s The Grill Restaurant immediately following the tournament.”

First place winners in the Men’s Championship, A, B, C, Senior and Super Senior Flights will each receive $500 cash, $400 for second, $300 for third, a digital camera to fourth, and $100 DFS gift certificate for fifth place.

The Ladies Low Gross champion will receive $500, $400 for second, and $300 for third place. The Ladies Low Net first through third places will receive a trophy.

Over $300,000 worth of prizes are at stake in the two-day tournament, including hole-in-one prizes worth $50,000 on both the east and west course courtesy of AON. Other hole-in-one prizes include two brand new cars from Triple J Motors and Microl Toyota. In addition, one year of free golf at LaoLao Bay on hole no 6 – East and $1,000 will be awarded to closest to the pin winners on hole 15 – East.

Since its inception, TOC has given over $500,000 to the Saipan Beautification Fund, which has gone directly to the improvements of the tree-lined traffic medians that stretch from Garapan to the former Palm Resort, as well as the revitalization of the Garapan special district. In addition, TOC also contributed funds for the Paseo de Marianas, the lighting of the Saipan Beach Pathway, and most recently the beatification of the Port to Park pathway.

“We are proud of our continued commitment to enhance the beauty of Saipan for our tourists and residents.” Babauta said. “It is the generous support of our golfers, sponsors, and committee members that makes this event possible.”

This year’s TOC is supported by Platinum sponsors DFS Galleria, Marianas Visitors Authority, and LaoLao Bay Golf Resort.

Gold sponsors include Aon Insurance, DoCoMo Pacific, Microl, Y’s Enterprises, Nike Golf, Triple J Motors, Delta Airlines, Chivas Regal, and Tan Holdings. Empress has signed on to become a silver sponsor, while Asiana Airlines, Rota Water, Hana Tour, Chanel, Beach Gal, Noni, BFJ Corp., Organic Natural Gift, and Stella Catering are bronze sponsors.
