The Lady Legals and BDE won their respective games in the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League last Sunday at the DanDan Softball Field.

The Lady Legals blew Lady Sufa out of the field, 17-5, in a run-mercy ruled game, while BDE outscored the Hotshots 13-8.

The first inning was a run frenzy for the Lady Legals as they struck first and scored seven. From the top of the lineup to the bottom, they produced results with single after single—with a leadoff base hit by Tiah Camacho.
Lady Sufa, on the other hand, could not make productive contact for two innings as they only had two hits with no runs off Lady Legals pitcher Jovie Omar.

Lady Sufa finally broke through in the third inning when they scored four runs which started from Tenta Borja’s single. However, they were shut down again in the fourth inning as the Lady Legals kept up their fiery offense and scored three in the third and seven more in the fourth for a 17-4 game.

Only one more run was made by Lady Sufa as Sheena Maratita rounded the bases and the game ended early, 17-5.

As for the BDE and Hotshots game, BDE managed to win via a rally in the last two innings and as their pitcher, Sonia Isaac held off the Hotshots to just two runs in their last at-bat.

By the sixth inning, both were tied at six runs apiece. BDE had scored two in the third and four in the fifth, while the Hotshots brought in three in the first, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth.

It was still anybody’s game in the last inning, but as the Hotshots could only score two—Rosie Saralu and Nish Mario who both hit triples—BDE took it upon themselves to secure the W by scoring seven.

Lina Cabrera hit a two-RBI triple and was also brought home by Maribel Igitol’s single. Heather Kladikm and Clarissa Mabel hit a single each and scored when Verly Secharmidal hit a two out triple. When the dust settled, BDE emerged victorious and scooped the win from the Hotshots.

Results of the men’s division will be posted in the next issues of Saipan Tribune.
