The Saipan Maga’haga Lady Eagles Club hosted its second annual Zumba Fun Day at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai last Saturday in celebration of International Women’s Month.
Throughout the day, over 100 women and some men sweated and danced to the beat of Zumba music led by Zumba instructors Zin Abby Whang and Zin Shellan Sarmiento and M2 Fitness instructor Mary Grace Bautista.
Maga’Haga Lady Eagles Club president Racquel Floyd said the event was intended “to celebrate Women’s Month and at the same time to raise funds for our socio-civic projects and community services.”
Some of the club’s projects so far include adopting and maintaining the Gualo Rai Basketball Court, refurbishing a bus stop in Koblerville, and cleanups.
Throughout the day last Saturday, participants were treated to a fun day of dancing and raffle prizes—the most of which was worth $300. The club also presented plaques of appreciation to the Zumba instructors after the event.
Floyd thanked the sponsors of the event, Saipan Maga’Lahi Eagles Club, the club’s Guam District, Tan Siu Lin Foundation, SuperTech, Coreplus, SM Shein Marianas, RHF Marketing Services, Saipan Ice and Water, Vision, Best Deals, New Chang Ming Market, McDonald’s of Saipan, and Island Rent-a-Car. She also thanked the members for their support and donations as well.
Bautista said in between dancing that she was there to support Women’s Month and to continue to promote a healthy and fit lifestyle. “We’re very happy that we were invited to be part of this event,” she said.
The Saipan Maga’Haga Lady Eagles Club is a nonprofit all-women socio-civic organization chartered just last year. The club’s motto is “service through strong sisterhood.”
