The Lady Blue Jays and the Lady Legals notched wins in the 2023 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League at the DanDan Softball Field last Sunday.

With their 10-7 win against the Hotshots, the Lady Blue Jays are undefeated with eight wins, while the Lady Legals shutdown BDE, 10-1.

Hotshots drew first blood in the evenly matched game as they clipped four runs off of Lady Blue Jays pitcher Angel Deleon Guerrero with singles from the top of the lineup

The Lady Blue Jays could not get past Hotshots pitcher Janice Celis as they dropped 1-2-3 in order in the first and second inning. However, their offense exploded in the third inning after a lead off base hit by Christie Aldan started the avalanche of five runs.

Deleon Guerrero got her bearings straight and it showed it was just a fluke in the first innings as she proceeded to shut down the Hotshots in four consecutive innings—allowing only two hits to Daisy Kaipan and Janica Lizama.

The Hotshots then tied the game up, 5-5, in the sixth inning when Lizama hit a triple and was brought home by a single from Rona Lemfiisch Ogumoro.

On the Lady Blue Jays’ last shot, they found a way to bring home five runs after an inside-the-park two-RBI home run by Bong Babauta, followed by runs by Keolani Rios, Destiny Pangelinan, and Keanu Aldan.

They held onto the lead and the win after the Hotshots could only bring in two runs after what looked like a rally after an inside-the-park home run by Rosie Saralu. The Lady Blue Jays pitcher was then backed up by her defense as they caught the last two outs of the game.

The Lady Legals had an easier time against BDE as they shut them down in the next six innings after their first and only run was scored in the first. BDE’s Ikelau Ngirarois got on base and was brought in by Keyona Tudela’s single. After that, BDE’s offense was nonexistent.

As for the Lady Legals, one run was made in the first inning then two in the fourth. Six runs were made in the fifth after a lead off walk by Julie Guerrero.

A subsequent error allowed her to get into scoring position and was brought in by Almina Guerrero. Five more singles that rounded the bases plus one more run in the last inning allowed them to end the game at 10 runs.
