Labor warns company for lack of docs
The CNMI Department of Labor has warned a company for failing to submit requirements in its request for certification of compliance.
Last Feb. 13, Labor’s Job Placement section denied Misa Enterprises, Inc. on three grounds—failure to post a job vacancy announcement on the department’s website for a job filled by a CW-1 employee, failure to submit a workforce plan for 2015 and 2016, and failure to submit a quarterly total workforce listings for four quarters in 2015 and two quarters in 2016.
Labor eventually cleared Misa Enterprises of the first charge and its president Misako Kamata promised that the company would be more diligent in submitting reports. She admitted they did not submit a work plan in 2015 and an incomplete work plan in 2016.
Kamata also said that the certification of good standing from Labor is needed for the company’s business to remain viable.
Job Placement then recommended reversing its denial and issuing only a warning to Misa Enterprises.
Labor hearing officer Jerry Cody said Misa Enterprises should be given an opportunity to demonstrate its compliance with Labor regulations and in the meantime shall be issued a warning. (Bea Cabrera)
