La Trattoria now serves breakfast and lunch

Drive no farther than La Trattoria along Middle Road (across the Commonwealth Health Center) for authentic Italian cuisine, now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Starting today, March 24, owner Vlad Melnik said the Italian restaurant will start serving lunch and breakfast after tickling the palates of island residents and tourists alike at dinnertime since it opened in February.

Chef Mar Balladares, who has been on Saipan since 1990, whips up traditional Italian dishes at La Trattoria and has lots of experience when it comes to Italian food.

Among the breakfast dishes La Trattoria will be serving is triple-layered pancake with mascarpone and coffee caramel glaze, stuffed French toast focaccia bread, chicken florentine crepes, and homemade pastries.

Expected to whet the appetites of La Trattoria’s lunch customers are fillet of cod and linguini dishes and a daily lunch buffet.

Breakfast fare ranges from $9 to $14, while the prices for lunch dishes are from $11 to $16.

La Trattoria is open for breakfast from 6:30am to 9:30am and lunch is from 11:30am to 2pm.

Melnik said the dearth of affordable authentic Italian restaurants prompted him to open La Trattoria early this year. He said his restaurant is inspired by recipes of author and Italian cuisine connoisseur Ella Martino, who he said will be visiting Saipan soon.

Like the restaurant’s lovely interior, Melnik is not scrimping on cost for ingredients as his restaurant uses only the best quality brands and freshest produce.

Aside from its breakfast and lunch offerings, La Tratorria is open for dinner from 6pm to 11pm. It has seats for 60 diners.

Melnik also has future plans to open La Trattoria II along the beach close to Aquarius Beach Tower Hotel in Susupe. He said the open-air restaurant will have a traditional firewood oven ideal for creating authentic Italian pizza.

For reservations, call La Trattoria at 233-7600.
