Kyung Seo Ran took the CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s March Ace after topping last Saturday’s tournament on the west course of the Laolao Bay Golf Resort.

Ran posted a 46 on the front nine and finished with a 44 on the back for an even 90 gross that adjusted into a field-low net score of 71. She smoked the competition by four strokes as Masayo Miyamoto and Dolores Yamagishi finished with identical net cards of 75, but the former was granted runner-up honors via handicap rule.

Miyamoto started out with a 40 on the first nine holes and managed a 43 on the back nine for a gross of 83, while third placer Yamagishi nailed a 44 on the front and finished with a 48 for a raw count of 92.

Fifteen golfers participated in the monthly tournament. Other notables included a low-gross 80 by fifth place finisher Noriko Togawa (77 net) and a pair of raw 82s by sixth place finisher Shiori Onoue (77 net) and a 11th placer Yuko Togawa (79 net)

Ran is the final qualifier for next month’s two-round season finale.

April marks the end of the CWGA season and the group will conclude the year with its annual two-day finale tournament, scheduled on April 14 and 15 at Laolao.

The list of this season’s class of Aces and the current point standings will be released soon. CWGA utilizes a standard net score format, where a predetermined point system is tallied during the season. First place is awarded 15 points, 14 for second and so on down through the Top 10 finishers, and the rest receive a point for participation.

Established in March 2007, CWGA is a nonprofit organization founded to promote, encourage, and introduce women to the sport of golf. The group plays once a month.
