Krosa downgraded to tropical storm

Typhoon Krosa has been downgraded to a tropical storm; it continues to move away from the Marianas.

According to the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, Krosa is moving northwest at 8 mph and is expected to maintain a west northwest or northwest track through Wednesday before turning north through Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds remain at 65 mph with little change in intensity expected through Monday evening. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 265 miles.

However, Tropical Storm Krosa is forecasted to strengthen tonight or Tuesday and could become a typhoon again as it continues to head west northwest or northwest.

Krosa swells are still producing seas of over 20 feet in the Marianas and dangerous surf of up to 16 feet on north- and west-facing reefs so it will be dangerous to venture out to sea in the next few days.
