Das Krishnan joined the winners circle of Saipan Golfers Association after ruling the SGA May Ace Tournament held on the east course of the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort last month.
Krishnan posted a net 66 for a two-stroke victory over Steve Balakrishna. Nick Sablan completed the Top 3. The 11-handicapper Krishnan shot a 38 and 39 on the front and back nines, respectively, for a gross 77, while Balakrishna, who holds the same handicap as the former, tallied a 40 and 39 for a gross 79. Sablan had the best gross scores among the Top finishers with his 76 (37 on the front nines and 39 on the back), but his 5 handicap left him with a net 71.
With Krishnan winning the May Ace, he now qualifies for the SGA Ace of Aces, joining previous monthly winners Attorney General Edward Manibusan (January), Jung Eun Teack (February), Nick Sablan (March), and Juan “Pan” Guerrero (April).
Sablan, besides his Top 3 finish, took two closest to the pin honors, achieving the feat on both par-3 holes—the 130-yard No. 6 and 122-yard No. 15. On the par-3, 150-yard No. 4, Manibusan hit a closest to the pin shot, while no SGA player won in another par-3 hole—the 170-yard No. 11.
Sablan also made the longest drive on the par-5, 464-yard No. 2 hole, while Tony Deleon Guerrero had the same shot on the longer hole, 502-yard No. 18.
Meanwhile, SGA will hold a tournament this Sunday at the Kingfisher Golf Links with the June Ace at stake. Tee time is at 9am, while check-in is set for 8:30am.
