Krishnan wins SGA March Ace honors

Das Krishnan topped a field of 28 to win the Saipan Golfers Association’s March Ace after the conclusion of the group’s monthly tournament held last March 18 at Kingfisher Golf Links.
Krishnan scratched a 41 on the front nine and finished his round with a 43 on the back side for an 84 gross tally that calculated to a 66 net score.
Danny Quitugua and newcomer James Nelson finished tied for second place with identical 69 net counts, but the former was awarded the nod via a scorecard tiebreaker.
Krishnan and Nelson each bagged a birdie in their rounds.
Notably, newcomer Sonny Flores turned in a solid fourth place showing with a net score of 70.
SGA’s Mariano Fajardo, Taeck Jung Eun, Rick Kautz, Ed Manibusan, Ray San Nicolas, Ned Norita, Frankie Pangelinan, Frank Castro , and Larry Hocog all recorded a birdie apiece, while newcomers Jesse Atalig (1 handicap) and Juan Lizama boasted three and two birdies, respectively. Steve Balakrishna also sank three birdies despite finishing in the back of the pack.
Closest to the pin winners include Balakrishna in hole No. 6, San Nicolas in hole No. 8, Pangelinan in hole No. 12, and Manibusan in hole No. 15.
Norita swept long ball honors last March with a pair of booming drives on holes No. 7 and 11.
SGA’s April Ace event is set for this Sunday at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort’s west course; show time is set for 9am with a 10:30am tee off.
