Krishnan seizes SGA’s October honors

Das Krishnan fired a net score of 70 to win the Saipan Golfers Association’s October Ace of the Month last Oct. 9 at the Marianas Country Club. Three strokes back was runner-up Martin Sablan, who bagged the longest drive on hole No. 11 and closest to the pin honors on hole No. 6. Sablan sunk his birdie putt as he went on to edge third place finisher Frances Sablan. Both carded net 73s.
Other notables include Juan L. Babauta’s longest drive on hole No. 2, Ed Sablan’s closest to the pin approach on hole No. 16, and Jung Teack’s irons hit the mark notching closest to the pin honors on holes No. 8 and No. 12.
Along with Martin Sablan, Jess Castro, Larry DeLeon Guerrero, and Teack all came away with birdies, while Nick Sablan came away with a pair in their respective rounds.
With the victory in the October ace, Krishnan joins early Aces Tony I. DeLeon Guerrero (January), John Cruz (February), Nick C. Sablan (March), Edward Manibusan (April), Ray M. San Nicolas (May), Joe I. Sablan (June), Danny Quitugua (July), Steve Balakrishna (August), and Frances Sablan (September) for next month’s Ace of Aces tournament.
Club members still have two chances to earn passage into the finale SGA Ace of Aces Tournament.
The first, headlined as SGA’s November Ace tournament, is scheduled for this Sunday, Oct. 24, at the Kingfisher Golf Links in Talafofo.
Then SGA’s December Ace of the Month event takes place on Nov. 13 at Coral Ocean Point, where SGA members will also be holding a Thanksgiving turkey shoot.
The two-day Ace of Aces Tournament is set from Nov. 26 to Nov. 27 at the Kingfisher Golf Links.
All three remaining events will have a 9am showtime with a 10:30am tee off schedule.
