Das Krishnan followed up his victory in the Saipan Golf Association by winning the Fil-Taga Golfers Association August Tournament held last Aug. 24 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

The Crowne Plaza Resort F&B director shot a net score of 71 after carding a gross of 83. The 12-handicapper fired a 41 in the front nine and a 42 in the back nine.

“My short game worked very well that day and it was very fortunate that Laolao [Bay Golf & Resort] was in top condition with the greens. But the weather was very hot and I was over-cooked,” he jokingly said.

Krishnan, who only joined Fil-Taga four months ago, is dedicating his win on the August tourney to his beloved wife, Alice Law.

The 66-year-old said he learned the sport on Tinian many years back when he was still the sales and marketing manager of Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.

“My coach was Ray Dela Cruz, the ex-mayor of Tinian,” he said while adding that he makes it a point to play once a week and practice every morning before going to work.

“For my age this is the best sport. It is also a mental game and very challenging,” he said.

Bae Hak Chon finished second with a net score of 72, followed by Tony Cabrera’s net 75.

Freddie Cataluna (net 65), Romy Cayetano (net 68), and Lito Mendoza (net 79) actually had lower scores than Krishnan, but Cataluna already won last April, ditto for Cayetano last June and Mendoza last February.

Other Fil-Taga members that took part in the August tourney were Joseph Fernandez (net 76), Bert Suda (net 77), Juhn Cayetano (net 77), Ronnie Santos (net 78), and Dan Ganacias (net 80).

In the par 3 competition, Romy Cayetano, Cataluna, Santos, and guest player Eric, who shot a gross of 82,  took the win.
