Krishnan gets SGA June Ace
Rick Kautz triumphed anew after ruling the Saipan Golfers Association June Ace of the Month Tournament held last Sunday at the Marianas Country Club.
The 10-handicapper Kautz, winner of the May Ace competition, shot a 41 on the front and 38 on the back for gross 79 and net 69. He was one stroke ahead of Das Krishnan, who carded a net 70 after the latter’s handicap (12) was deducted from his gross 82. Krishnan, who logged 41s on both nines last Sunday, went on to take the SGA June Ace since Kautz had already secured the May award. The two golfers have also qualified to the club championship, joining Joe H. Aldan (January), Joe I. Sablan (February), Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (March), and Alex Tudela (April) on the list.
Meanwhile, Nick Sablan rounded out the Top 3 finishers in the June Ace tournament after recording a net 74 and beating three others in the scorecard tiebreak. The veteran golfer had a 7 handicap and shot a 42 and 39 on the front and back nines, respectively.
In other results, CNMI Attorney General Ed Manibusan, Krishnan, Frances Sablan, and Jess Castro were the closest to the pin winners on No. 6, 7, 12, and 16. Frances Sablan also had the longest drive on No. 11, while Joe Aldan prevailed on No. 2.
Next up for SGA is the July Ace competition and it will take place this Sunday at Coral Ocean Point & Resort. Tee time is at 9:30am, while check in is at 9am.
