Koblerville rules All-Schools divisions

Koblerville Elementary School bets topped both the boys and girls divisions in the Under-8 age group of last weekend’s 12th Public School System/McDonald’s All-hSchools Athletics Championship held in two different venues.

Thursday’s opening took place at the Oleai Sports Complex before the annual event, which was postponed for one week due to Typhoon Dolphin that hit the Marianas last May 15. The sporting event was then transferred to the Hopwood Junior High School field for the last two days of competition.

Isaiah Aleksenko, Becky Walter, and Jane Elias led the way for the Hugging Umangs as they combined for 10 of the 12 gold medals that Koblerville bets collected.

Aleksenko went 4-for-4 while Walter clinched three gold and one bronze medal in the events they competed in.

Aleksenko ruled the boys 200 meter run with a time of 34.86 seconds or 1.22 seconds ahead of teammate Sylmark Defang (36.08), while Brilliant Star School’s Kyle Moon placed third (36.40).

He then topped the 400m and 800m runs with 1:26.03 and 3:08.55, respectively, to reset the last year’s times of John Mark Anastacio (1:26.69 and 3:15.39). His last gold came in the 1,500m run (6:48.70).

Robert De Courtney of Whispering Palms School came in second in the 400m run (1:28.46) and Defang third (1:29.99), while DeCourtney and Monico Claridades copped the silver and bronze in the 800m run with times of 3:33.70 and 3:44.18, respectively.

Anthony Gregoire of WPS (7:35.89) and Claridades of Koblerville (8:10.65) finished second and third in the 1,500m run.

Defang and Ronersen Shorew gave Koblerville two more gold medals in the 60m (9.93) and 100m (16.58) sprints.

Koblerville’s William King (10.19) and Saipan Community School’s Hans Xu (10.47) settled for the silver and bronze in the 60m run, while Defang and King duplicated the feat in the 100m run for a sweep of the Hugging Umang bets.

William S. Reyes Elementary School’s Tyler Omelau was the long jump champion after leaping a distance of 3.00m, while Agape Christian School’s Tony Xu and Saipan International School’s Christian Newman ended up tied with 2.70m. Xu earned the silver after having the least attempts in reaching the mark.

Daniel Alvares gave Tinian the softball throw gold medal with a distance of 25.67m to beat King (24.05m) and WSR’s Austin Pelisamen (21.95m).

Walter, on the other hand, ended up with three gold and a bronze. She topped the 60m, 100m, and 200m runs with times of 9.67, 15.65, and 38.31 seconds, while settling for the bronze in the 400m run (1:34.60).

Micarose Naanap of WSR (10.02) and Ha’ani Salas of Kolberville (10.35) placed second and third in the 60m run, while Brilliant Star School teammates Savita Sikkel (16.80) and Serin Chung (17.06) equaled the feat in the 100m run.

Helen Kim of Whispering Palms settled for the silver in the 200m run with a time of 40.68 while Sikkel collected the bronze (41.05).

Koblerville’s Jane Elias topped the 400m run clocking in at 1:27.78 to beat Princess Kasian’s time of 1:29.87 last year. Sikkel bagged her second silver (1:34.20) while Walter was third (1:34.60).

Elias then added the 800m (3:53.98) and 1,500m (9:34.11) run golds with Amanda Habal of WSR (4:23.25) and Ashley Kasian (10:37.94) settling for the silver.

Ashley Dangol won the long jump event with a 2.79m leap to beat Brilliant Star teammate Sikkel (2.78m) and WPS’ Soarin Oh (2.73m), while it was a WSR sweep in the vortex throw behind Mattymae Pelisamen (14.85m), Shamae Kileleman (13.75m), and Hana Diaz (12.65m).
