The Mount Carmel School Knights girls varsity volleyball team won their first game of the season against Francisco M. Sablan Middle School last Tuesday in the NMIVA-PSS Interscholastic Middle School Volleyball League 2022-2023 at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
The Knights finally fixed the chink in their armor as they navigated through the waves of attack by the Napu Riders, defeating them in two tough sets, 21-10, 21-19.
The Napu Riders drowned in the points brought about by the series of unhittable serves by the Knights, allowing the Knights to pull away further to victory in the first set. The second set was a closer match as the Napu Riders regrouped and made less mistakes, but their effort was stymied by the Knights’ powerful returns as they reached the game point first.
Cassidee Flores, Aubrey Quitugua, Kaitlyn Drilon, Jeein Lee, Aya Marie Santos, Hiromi Sasamoto, Patricia Matsumoto, Anjoelena Villagomez, Mia Guerrero, Maya McQuay, Hope McQuay, Alexia Rubia, Sage Villagomez, Naomi Matsumoto, and Sarah Melchor make up the Knights roster.
