KMTC donates to Karidat for typhoon recovery
Members of Korean Marianas Tourism Council collectively donate $10,000 on Jan. 10, 2019, at the Marianas Visitors Authority office in Saipan to representatives of Karidat Social Services for typhoon recovery aid. Donors include, Jae Chan Leigh of Sejoong Tour, Hyoung Jo Jang of KRT, Moo Seung Yang of Tour 2000, Eui Kwon Chung of SM Town Travel, and Jin Seok Lee of Naeil Tour. Several Korean tourism executives visiting The Marianas to assess the recovery of the destination following Super Typhoon Yutu have pooled their resources to aid local families facing long-term recovery and others in need.
Representatives of Korean Marianas Tourism Council donated $10,000 to Karidat Social Services on Jan. 10, 2019, during their recent FAM tour of Saipan organized by the Marianas Visitors Authority.
“We are extremely grateful to the members of KMTC for their very generous donation to the local community while they were here,” said MVA managing director Christopher A. Concepcion. “It is very heartwarming to see our tourism partners support our community even more during times like this. Karidat is one of the lead agencies for the long-term recovery of families—such as those who’ve lost their homes—and we hope this donation will be a big help in those efforts.”
Contributing companies were Jeju Air, Tour 2000, Sejoong Tour, Very Good Tour, Tide Square, SM Town Travel, KRT, and Naeil Tour.
The MVA’s 2019 “We Together” VIP FAM tour was held on Jan. 10-13, 2019, with CEOS from seven travel agencies and representatives of Jeju Air and DFS. The group’s tour commenced with a welcome dinner and a meeting with MVA management. The group visited major hotels and resorts popular with Korean travelers, where they met with hotel partners to discuss the status of hotels after the typhoon and the normalization of package sales. Members enjoyed dinner at Hyatt Regency Saipan and attended a dinner meeting hosted by DFS T Galleria at Korean restaurant Cheong Gi Wa, followed by an inspection of T Galleria. They also visited Lao Lao Bay Golf & Resort and lodged at Aqua Resort Club Saipan during their visit.
