The championship game in the 2018 Rocball League will be played by Watch & Learn, a team made up of teachers and staff of MHS and Kiss My Ace (KMA). KMA is a team of senior high School students who have been playing Rocball ever since they were freshmen at MHS.
KMA defeated Sai Ki So 46 to 21 in their semifinal game to advance to the title match. Watch & Learn, on the other hand, defeated Fam Bam by “juicing out” in Rocball’s quarter/set system of play where a team can win with most points scored in four sets. The finals date has yet to be scheduled.
KMA’s only loss of the season was against Watch & Learn. Both of these teams know how to play the served ball at the net. Unlike volleyball, a tamer version of this kind of team net sport, front line players are allowed to spike down a served ball. In Rocball jargon a spiked down serve is called a “jam” and KMA is the best team this year for the “jam.”
In two point backcourt scoring, Watch & Learn is the best team for making what Rocball players know as the “kee.” The kee is when the person playing the goalie’s position scores from behind the 10-foot line.
For three-point goals, KMA has the edge but not by much. KMA has more penalty serves than Watch & Learn, but has a slight advantage in the two point ace serves. Both teams have very good spikers and know how and when to dink.
