The sands of Hyatt Regency Saipan beachside will turn into a royal battleground this Sunday as volleyball players team up to see who has the skills to be crowned King and Queen of the Beach.
Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association has partnered with Stellar Marianas, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Landshark Lager, Aloha Maid, Caravan Restaurant, and Marianas Variety, to bring the initiative of 2015 Miss Marianas Jian Joyner back to the court and help raise some funds at the same time.
The 2016 King and Queen of the Beach is a two-player male or female teams for 16 years old and up players with competition based on individual wins.
“We had done this before a while ago and we are excited to bring it back as an event,” said NMIVA president Laurie Peterka.
The players will rotate and based on the number of individual wins, participants will be crowned King and Queen of the Beach. The $25 per person registration includes a special edition King and Queen of the Beach t-shirt and delicious lunch from Caravan Restaurant.
Winners will walk away with a crown, sash, flowers, beach chair thrones, gifts from Landshark, an island style lager, and Aloha Maid as well as gift certificates from Hyatt Regency Saipan.
“I wanted to create a fun way to raise funds through the love of volleyball and I am very grateful for all our community partners and players coming together to make it possible,” Joyner said.
“We are inviting our community to come and enjoy the day watching the tournament and supporting NMIVA and Stellar Marianas. Registration is on site at 8:30am, so if you would like to play, come and register,” she added
