Summer is officially over but that isn’t stopping the boys of summer from playing their favorite sport, as Roil Soil Marketing will hold the King of the Diamond Labor Day Softball Tournament from Aug. 29 to Sept. 6 at the Capitol Hill Ballfield.
Roil Soil Marketing owner Shayne Villanueva said the tournament will have slots for 30 teams and entries will be determined in a first-come, first-served basis.
“King of the Diamond is a fun tournament to bring back some competitive softball back to the diamond. We are teaming up with Budweiser to host two new tournaments a year. One during Labor Day and another during Memorial Day weekend. This tournament will feature cash prizes, a home run derby, a cornhole tournament, and more. We look to have some vendors and food onsite also so the patrons can come and have food and drinks readily available. We invite the public to come down and enjoy the local team showcase their talents,” he said.
Prizes for the tournament are nothing to sneeze at as first place is $1,000 plus a set of 12 uniforms, second place is $750, third place is $500, and fourth place is $350.
Entry fee is $350 and the King of the Diamond Labor Day Softball Tournament in sponsored by Budweiser, AllStar Sporting Goods, Power 99, and Marianas Variety.
