Kim edged Yuko Togawa in the Ladies Flight after tackling the Kagman golf course, made more challenging by Typhoon Soudelor’s winds, with a two-day total of 155.
She thrived in the picture perfect Day 1 of the tournament with a 2-over par 74, but struggled on Day 2’s Soudelor-powered winds and limped back into the clubhouse with a 9-over 81.
Togawa, for her part, saw herself come within a stroke of Kim’s first day score with a 75 last Aug. 1. She, however, failed to make any headway on Aug. 2 and again finished a stroke behind the Ladies Flight eventual champion with an 83, good for a two-day haul of 157.
Yuko’s mother, Noriko, came in third with her 164 built around an 83 on the first day and an 81 on the second day.
Chung Hee Yoo and Jenny Hegland completed the Top 5 in the Ladies Flight with scores of 166 (79-87) and 169 (82-87), respectively.
In the Ladies Low Net, Yoo was heads and shoulders above everyone else after she submitted a net score of 71. She actually finished the weekend with a 166 gross after a 79 on Day and an 87 on Day 2, but when her handicap was calculated she came away with a peerless 71 average net.
Me Ae Jeon finished a far second with 74 average net after a two-day gross of 172, while Shiori Onoue was third with a 74.60 average net built around an 81 on Aug. 1 and a 91 on Aug. 2.
