Kilili makes case for Clinton ahead of Democratic caucus
In a statement yesterday Delegate Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (Ind-MP) made the case for the Northern Marianas Democratic Party to choose Hillary Clinton for President at Saturday’s caucus meetings on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
“When Hillary Clinton launched her Asian Pacific Americans campaign initiative earlier this year, I was on hand in California to give my support to her. Secretary Clinton is the only candidate for the Democratic nomination to recognize the importance of Asian Pacific Americans in this way. And at the Democratic Party caucuses here on Saturday, I believe that we Pacific Americans should recognize that Hillary Clinton is the person best qualified to be our next President,” said Sablan.
He said the Marianas has a long list of issues that it needs to work on with the federal government over the coming four years: improving health care, making sure the military respects our islands, building a durable labor force to support our economy, and always finding ways to support the education of our children.
“These are not easy issues. They will require the kind of experience and practical problem solving that Hillary Clinton is known for.”
Sablan said participation in the national political conventions that choose Presidential candidates is one of the most important ways that the people of the Marianas can make their voice heard on the national stage.
“The votes of our delegates are the equal of the votes of delegates from anywhere else in America. So, I urge Democrats in our islands to go to the party caucuses this Saturday and help choose the next President of the United States: Hillary Rodham Clinton,” said Sablan.
