Kilili invites Tinian residents to town hall meeting
CNMI Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan will host a town hall meeting for residents of Tinian on Monday, March 12, 2012, from 6pm to 8pm at the Tinian Elementary School cafeteria.
Sablan is encouraging all residents of Tinian to attend the forum, where he will discuss legislation and issues that relate to the Northern Mariana Islands, which are being considered in the nation’s capital.
The congressman will also field questions and comments from meeting participants about matters that affect them, the Tinian community, or the CNMI as a whole.
Tinian Mayor Ramon M. Delacruz and members of the Tinian Legislative Delegation have been invited to attend the town hall meeting.
Sablan’s Town Hall meetings are just one part of his efforts to be as accessible as possible to all constituents in the Northern Marianas. In addition to these meetings, he attempts to travel to either Tinian or Rota during each of his regular trips home; his most recent visit to Tinian was during last month’s Pika Festival, where he was able to informally talk with dozens of constituents.
The congressman also maintains district offices on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, where staff members are available to assist residents of the CNMI in person or by telephone.
“I hear on a daily basis from constituents by phone and email,” said Sablan, “but there’s no substitute for being able to talk face-to-face and engage in a back-and-forth discussion, which is why I spend as much time as the congressional schedule allows, in the Northern Marianas.”
