Sablan personally presented the check amounting to $500 to the 2015 MMAC committee at their final committee meeting held at the residence of Aldebert and Celina A. Concepcion in Chalan Piao.

“The 2015 MMAC committee extends its utmost thanks to Congressman Sablan for his generous support in the fight against cancer. The battle continues even after the MMAC event so his donation is sincerely appreciated,” said 2015 MMAC overall chair Diana I. Benavente.

Also present at the check presentation were entertainment chair Carol P. Hosono, team recruitment chair Catherine Attao-Toves, team recruitment co-chair Tara T. White, T-shirt chair Geralyn C. Dela Cruz, luminary chair Jenypy Sambile, sponsorship chair Nola K. Hix, logistics chair Janine F. Nogis, and public relations vice chair Chris A. Concepcion.

“Funds donated to the MMAC will remain in the CNMI for use in cancer patient support services and awareness programs. We encourage others to support this worthy cause,” Benavente added.

The MMAC is the annual signature fundraiser of the Commonwealth Cancer Association. This year, it was held on May 1 and 2 and sold more than 2,400 luminaries and raised over $121,000.

Funds raised in the MMAC are used to provide direct assistance to cancer survivors in the CNMI. One of the services they offer is the $500 given per client yearly for nutritional, therapeutic, and medical supplies needed to support cancer treatment.
