Kikkoman Cook-Off set for June 30

J.C. Tenorio Enterprises is calling on all Kikkoman lovers to join the 2012 Kikkoman Cook-Off next Saturday, June 30, at the Joeten Susupe Shopping Center.
Frannie T. Demapan, Joeten marketing manager and buyer, said yesterday that the upcoming cooking challenge is one of the many activities that their store has come up with to promote Kikkoman products.
“It’s a fun event where we can see the creativity of different contestants, what recipes they can create using Kikkoman,” she told Saipan Tribune.
Demapan said the culinary competition is open to all individual Kikkoman users 18 years or older-be it professional or aspiring cooks-on a first come, first served basis. Registration is free and each contestant will only be allowed to submit one dish using any Kikkoman products in the contest.
The 2012 Kikkoman Cook-Off has two categories: appetizer and main entrée. A maximum of 10 contestants will be allowed to enter each category.
Registration forms for the contest are available at all Joeten stores but filled out forms will have to be submitted along with a copy of the recipe at Joeten Susupe.
“We need to know ahead of time what dish they’re cooking,” noted Demapan.
According to Demapan, all contestants will have to prepare their dishes at home and just bring the cooked entries to Joeten Susupe next Saturday for the judges to taste.
“The judges won’t know which competitor cooked which dish; they just base it on taste,” she added.
Winners for each category will receive $150 worth of Joeten gift certificates for 1st place, $100 for 2nd place, and $50 for third place plus other exciting prizes.
All contestants will be receiving an exclusive Joeten/Kikkoman T-shirts and their recipes will be forwarded to the Kikkoman office in Japan.
“We’re calling out all Kikkoman lovers to join the 2012 Kikkoman Cook-Off which should really be a fun event,” said Demapan. “Yes, it’s a competition but it would be nice to see at the same time what kind of flavors will come out using different Kikkoman products.”
