The Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture, in partnership with Pacific Resources for Education and Learning, is hosting a “Kids Helping Kids” workshop with Dr. Lori Phillips on Jan. 30, 2020, at the Kanoa Resort, from 9am to 3pm.

The Kids Helping Kids workshop teaches a series of strategies that assist teachers in teaching basic observational drawing and story writing to create early childhood readers. Its main goal is to create books that can be translated into local languages for use in island classrooms.

The workshop is open for all K-12 private and public-school teachers. Interested teachers must register on or before Tuesday, Jan. 28, to reserve their seats. Registration is free and on a first come, first served basis.

The workshop is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts—Pacific Territorial Grant, Pacific Resources for Education and Learning, and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ Commonwealth Council for Arts and Culture. To register or for more information, call 322-9982. (PR)
