Robert Reyes and Dustin Sablan combined for 54 points to lead Team Kio to a 78-48 victory over Devil Dog Warriors last Monday night in the 2021 Island-wide Men’s BudLight Basketball League at the Tinian Multi-Purpose Gymnasium.

With the win, Kio remains the only undefeated team in the league with a 6-0 record, while Devil Dog lost its first game to drop to 5-1.

Devil Dog actually led the game early with Jake Montgomery going nuts with 8 points in the opening quarter to give his team a 14-9 spread. Kio, however, started to flex its muscles in the second canto led by Sablan and Lucio Sanchez. The former ignited for 11 points and the latter 9 as Kio entered halftime now in control of the game, 36-22.

Reyes took over the scoring reins in the third quarter, firing 11 points as Kio maintained its double-digit advantage, 55-42, with a quarter to go in the contest. Damian Kada tried his best to keep Devil Dog in the game in the third by unloading 8 markers.

It was all Kio in the fourth and final quarter, as Reyes continued to scorch anyone assigned to guard him, while the rest of his teammates held the fort on defense. Kio limited Devil Dog to a 6 measly points in the final 10 minutes and scored 23 points themselves.

Reyes punched in 30 markers to lead Kio, while Sablan added 24 in support. Montgomery paced Devil Dog with 19 markers.

In the first game last Monday, Rampage (6-1) moved to second place in the standings following its 76-61 conquest of winless Power Builders (0-6).
Wesley Walker started Rampage on the right foot, firing 6 points to give his team a 15-9 lead after a quarter of play. J.R and Darwin Libut rallied Power Builders back in the game in the second, combining for 13 markers as they only trailed 30-32 at the halftime break.

But Walker had other plans in the third and with help from Jayron Epity erected a double-digit spread that they wouldn’t yield the rest of the way. J.R. Libut almost matched Walker’s 8 points in the fourth quarter with 7 of his own, but the latter got a lot of help from his teammates handing Rampage the runaway victory.

Walker scored 25 points to lead Rampage, which also got 20 points apiece from Epity and Leo Pascua. J.R. Libut led Power Builders in the loss with 20 markers, while Darwin Libut added 11.
