KHS alumnus excels in Air Force Academy

Kagman High School alumnus Paolo Josef F. Reyes is only in his second semester at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado but has already made a name for himself on campus.

According to Reyes’ parents, Pepito and Malou, he had already made the Dean’s List where he ranks 38th out of 1,144 military cadets.

The young Reyes, his father added, also exceeded on what is expected from a cadet of his grade and experience to earn commandant in the military rank.

The Academy in El Paso County in Colorado Springs is a military school for the United States Air Force. Graduates of their four-year academic program receive a Bachelor of Science degree and hold second lieutenant posts once commissioned in the U.S. Air Force.

Reyes, who graduated salutatorian last year, was the recipient of CNMI Commissioner’s Award for having the second highest grade point average of KHS’ 2015 graduating class.

He also received subject area awards in Science, Social Studies, and Japanese, and earned the gold medal for the President’s Education Award Program of Outstanding Academic Award. He also ranked second in the Top 10 Outstanding Academic Achievement awardees.

Reyes was also KHS’ Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps battalion commander for two straight years earning the rank of colonel and also received the JROTC Commendation Medal.

His father Pepito, who is a native of Mabitac, Laguna in Southern Luzon, works as an architect at the Department of Public Works, while his mother Malou is from Bocaue, Bulacan, north of Luzon and is an accountant at the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

Reyes is the youngest of three children. He has an older sister, Marie Louchelle R. Menchavez and an older brother Josef Pepito F. Reyes.
