KFAS wins season debut in M-League

Korean Football Association on Saipan finally played its first game in the Fall season of the M-League and pulled off a 5-4 victory over the CNMI Women’s National Team last Sunday at the Koblerville Elementary School Field.

Edwin Kim did it all for KFAS’s offense, scoring five goals with his last two in the second half giving the squad the insurance after WNT attempted a comeback. Kim registered goals in the 23rd, 34th, and 43rd minute to hand KFAS a 3-1 halftime edge in their Division B game.

Sarah Allen made the lone goal for WNT in the sixth minute and her second in the 56th moved the squad within one. Another shot from Kim in the 66th minute gave KFAS more breathing room, but WNT refused to give up when Angie Ito scored in the 74th.

Less than a minute after WNT threatened KFAS, Kim came to his team’s rescue with his fifth goal. Irish Pagarao closed out the scoring with her conversion in the 77th minute and KFAS hung in there to win its season debut. KFAS played only its first game this Fall, as most of its players were off-island.

In the other Division B tiff, Matansa is undefeated in four games after a 4-0 triumph Shirley’s FC.

Anamul Haque, Daniel Jay Duenas, Young Ha Hwang, and Kamrul Kamrul scored for Matansa.

DIVISION A
Teen Ayuyus 1, Kanoa 0

The Teen Ayuyus are also unscathed after four games following a close victory over Kanoa at the Hopwood Middle School Field.

Sunjoon Tenorio made the lone goal in the second game in Division A to keep the Teen Ayuyus on top of the team standings in the seven-squad field.

TanHoldings 4, MP United 1
TanHoldings duplicated the Teen Ayuyus’ 4-0-0 win-draw-loss record after beating MP United in the last game in the division.
Mareko Tekopua, Jersh Angeles, Ryan Relucio, and Kirro Batino scored in the fourth, 35th, 63rd, and 78th minute for TanHoldings, while MP United’s only goal came from Byong Ha Kim’s conversion in the fifth.

Sun Palace 5, Paire 1
Sun Palace notched its second victory in three games after downing the winless Paire.

Daniel Agulto delivered for Sun Palace as he bagged three goals, logging his first in the 40th minute and the last two in the 75th and 80th. Joe Miller recorded the two other goals for Sun Palace and he did it in a span of eight minutes, as he lit up the board in the 47th and 55th minute.

Bruce Berline handed Paire its lone goal in the 25th minute.
