Kanoa Football Club and Shirley’s Football Club arranged their championship showdown in the 2019 Dove Spring Women’s 11 vs 11 League after eliminating their respective playoff foes last Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Shirley’s advanced to the finals first following a 7-0 crushing of Paire Football Club in the opening semis match, while Kanoa downed Matansa Football Club in the other Final Four game, 6-3. Kanoa and Shirley’s will dispute the season crown this Sunday at 6pm, while Matansa and Paire will play in the battle for third place.

Irish Pagarao towed Kanoa to the semis win after scoring four goals. Her back-to-back goals in a span of a minute anchored Kanoa’s early breakaway, as their team took a 4-1 halftime lead. Pagarao had her first and second goal in the 30th and 31st minute, while Mary Kay Alferos put Kanoa on the board in the 13th minute, and Sue Anne Huevos delivered the fourth one in the 34th.

Earlier in the 21st minute, Nathanette Blas’ conversion knotted the count, 1-all, but that was it for Matansa, as it failed to contain Pagarao. The Kanoa striker went on to finish off Matansa with another pair of goals in the second half after scoring in the 72nd and 86th minute. Marinel Falalimpa and Manami Manglona posted the two goals for Matansa in the second half with the former making a shot in the 73rd and the latter in the 81st.

In the first semis game, Katrina Costales ran the show in Shirley’s rout of Paire. Costales fired six goals, starting her surge in the 38th minute. Her five other goals came in the 45th, 49th, 51st, 55th, and 61st minute. Angie Ito registered the other goal for Shirley’s in the 28th minute.
